As a volunteer with Family Promise of Greater Concord, you play a crucial role in providing support and hospitality to families experiencing homelessness. Our program relies on the dedication and compassion of volunteers to create a welcoming and stable environment for families as they transition to permanent housing. 

Volunteer Areas Include: 

  • Hosting Families: Volunteers help set up and prepare spaces for families at various host sites, ensuring they have a comfortable place to stay. This includes setting up sleeping areas, providing bedding, and creating a welcoming atmosphere. 

  • Meal Preparation and Serving: Volunteers prepare and serve meals to families, offering nutritious and delicious food. Sharing meals together fosters a sense of community and provides an opportunity for volunteers to connect with families. 

  • Overnight Support: Volunteers stay overnight at host sites to provide security and support to families. This ensures that families feel safe and have someone to turn to in case of any needs or emergencies. 

  • Engaging with Children: Volunteers engage with children through activities, playtime, and homework help. This support helps children feel more at ease and provides a sense of normalcy during a challenging time. 

  • Offering Emotional Support: Volunteers interact with families with respect and compassion, offering a listening ear and emotional support. Building positive relationships with families helps them feel valued and supported. 

  • Transportation: Volunteers assist with various transportation needs, including: 

  • Helping Families Move: Assisting families with moving their belongings to new housing, ensuring a smooth and stress-free transition. 

  • Picking Up Donations: Collecting and delivering donations such as furniture, clothing, and household items to families in need.
